The focus of BMJ Open is publishing empirical research that is relevant to patients and clinicians. We publish research articles from study protocols through phase I trials to meta-analyses. Whilst we read your manuscript with interest, I'm afraid that we do not currently consider family genetic studies for publication. We felt that it would be better placed in a journal focussed on medical genetics.
