求问有经验的版友vector graphics和bitmap files的区别

头一次投SCI，该杂志的figure要求看着有点晕：

Please submit vector graphics (e.g. line artwork) in Encapsulated Postscript Format (EPS), and bitmap files (e.g. half-tones) in Tagged Image File Format (TIFF). Detailed guidance on preparing digital illustrations is available via Wiley-Blackwell Author Services at XXX. Letters, numbers and symbols should be clear and even throughout, and of sufficient size so that when reduced for publication the item will still be legible; titles and detailed explanations should be included in the legends, not in the illustrations themselves. Cite each figure in the text in consecutive order.

If you wish to use a figure that has been previously published, you must acknowledge the original source and submit written permission from the copyright holder to reproduce the material. . Please go to XXX to get permission.

求问：

那个vector graphics和bitmap files指什么？园子里说是矢量图和位图，但究竟什么图算矢量图，什么算位图？比如我western的条带图这个算哪种？灰度计算后得到的柱状图又算哪种？
