Graduate assistantships will be provided to cover full tuition, stipend, and health subsidy with standard UH student benefits. The students will have the flexibility to choose one or multiple research directions:
1. To develop electrochemical and/or electrokinetic microfluidics technologies for point of care disease detection and physiological parameter monitoring.
2. To develop functional microfluidic assays for personalized care and pre-clinical drug testing.
3. The role of human microvasculature in hemolytic disorder and cancer.
What YOU will receive during training:
1. You will be involved in either/both 1) highly translational research in which your project will become commercialized by our collaborators or/and 2) Fundamental biomedical studies that lead to novel mechanistic findings.
2. An opportunity to gain multidisciplinary research experience, and work in one or multiple fields including microfluidic design, electrochemical sensing, point-of-care disease detection, as well as fundamental sciences including electrokinetics, cell signaling, and vascular thromboinflammation. You will have the flexibility to choose the field in which you want to establish your career.
3. Build a strong CV for yourself, including project experience that will interest industries and/or academies including journal publications, patents, conference presentations, and awards.
