Apply for Fellow

The strategy for Fellow applications is basically the same as for residents. However, USMLE scores are not as important as the resident. In addition, experience in your own country works positively.

Being a Fellow usually means that you have a specialist in your home country （国内通过专陪 Specialist training, 就能达标）, so it is an advantage to have better knowledge and skills（四大医科名校） than American Fellows.

Therefore, if you are aiming to be a fellow, the following tools are useful:

Experience as many cases as possible （中国的病例数绝对够这个条件）

Write a lot of English papers (刷文章，这个条件跟resident match差不多）

Make presentations at international conferences and make connections with famous American doctors （只要留在北京，上海就有很多这种陶瓷机会）

 In my case, a professor at my institution and a professor at a US hospital were friends and recruited as fellows using that connection （国际合作项目，锁定这样的导师考硕考博）.

However, there were about 10 English-language papers（有难度不是不可能，华西8年制毕业发了30个sci）, and I presented many times at international conferences and received several awards. It goes without saying that USMLE has also been taken, and this has worked positively.

Considering the current environment in China, it is realistic to enter from a fellow in the case of surgery, so be sure to gain as much surgery experience as possible and write a lot of papers as usual
