To generate Smo LKO mice, Alb-cre transgenic mice (obtained from
Jackson Laboratory) were crossed with mice bearing a
floxed Smo allele (Smo flox/flox; Jackson Laboratory),producing Cre+;Smo flox/+. These mice were subsequently
crossed with Smo flox/flox to generate mice that were
homozygous for Alb-cre and Smo flox/flox.
