Postdoctoral Research Associate, University of Oxford
Postdoctoral Research Associate, University of Oxford, United Kingdom
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences (NDCN) to conduct a pre-clinical trial on an AAV based gene therapy for CMS in collaboration with an industrial partner. The aim of the study is to determine the pharmacology and long-term efficacy of the gene therapy and compare it with the best current therapy to see if it is significantly more efficacious. If the outcomes of this study are positive, then the data will go into a package of information that will be presented to the regulators for consideration as to whether the treatment is suitable for clinical trials.
You will work as part of a well-established, multidisciplined team that works closely with the Oxford Congenital Myasthenia Clinic and has been at the forefront of research into CMS for over 20 years. You will work in the renowned Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine and have access to its state of the art facilities. Your duties will include breeding and maintaining mouse models of CMS and extracting and quantifying mRNA and protein expression, as well as assessing neuromuscular junction morphology using confocal microscopy and managing the finances.
