The successful candidate will work on a project within the research initiative „Aligning Science Across Parkinson’s - Olfactory circuits: alpha-synuclein-rich neurons respond to environmental triggers at the origin of Parkinson’s disease”
The research focus here will be on the glial response along the olfactory circuit, particularly in patients suffering from Parkinson’s disease (PD). Since one of the earliest symptoms of PD is olfactory dysfunction, the research on this topic will facilitate biomarker development and contribute to a better understanding of the origin of PD. Our group aims to investigate the inflammatory component along the olfactory route and corresponding changes in neuronal phenotypes. These might indicate classical pathologies such as Lewy bodies but also transcriptional changes in cellular populations.
Your profile:
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a master’s degree in biology, immunology, neuroscience or a related discipline.
Experience in cellular and molecular biology, bioinformatics, rodent models of human diseases is desirable, but not mandatory.
The successful candidate should have a strong interest in translational neurobiology and enjoy working in a team.
