现任中华医学会男科学分会北京市常委、中华医学会泌尿外科学分会委员、APSIR（亚太性功能障碍协会）理事、ISIR（国际性功能障碍协会）会员、WHO性功能障碍顾问委员会委员、AUA（美国泌尿外科学会）会员、泌尿研究所男科实验室主任、主任医师、教授、博士生导师。
在男科学方面投入了大量的精力，并获得一定成果，在国际和国内阐明了早泄的器质性发病原因，并将阴茎生物感觉阈值和感觉神经兴奋性过高的研究报告发表在《美国泌尿外科杂志》（J Urology, SCI影响因子2.89）、国际性功能障碍杂志（IJIR, SCI影响因子2.41）等国际相关领域高级刊物、并研制出治疗男性早泄的外用药物，于1998年与韩国C.J公司共同开发上市，获得国际国内专利权，创造了良好的社会效益和经济效益。
在临床工作中，开展了新兴高科技项目—阴茎勃起辅助装置植入手术治疗勃起功能障碍，多年来已完成手术600余例，手术成功率100%；开展了早泄、男性不育症、老年男子更年期综合症等多项临床和基础研究工作，成效正在显现。
先后编写了《勃起功能障碍的手术治疗》、《男子生殖医学》两本专业书籍，参编《现代泌尿外科学手术图谱》、《临床泌尿外科学》等多部书籍。已培养研究生3名，目前指导博士研究生3名、硕士研究生3名，同时指导全国各地进修医师10余名，并数十次为全国各地泌尿外科医生、男科医生作专题讲座。
