今天助理版主申请成功,开专帖讨论.
我科一朋友文章被某SCI杂志接收，朋友很高兴，待清样修改时发现文章表１数据有误，在没有与杂志编辑商讨的情况下，私自修改了表１数据，随后造成严重后果，经过我极力申辩，最后文章出版，所以，给大家一个教训：涉及文章数据的内容，如发现有误，应与杂志编辑联系，切误私自修改，否则后果严重．另外，大家可以畅所寓言，自己修改清样后的故事．我朋友所经历的如下：
2009-5-4;作者把修改的清样返回附带的Cover Letter
Dear editors:
Thank you for your message concerning our manuscript entitled XXX. The queries from the editors have been most helpful in correction of our manuscript. We dealt fully with the queries in the proof and collected in table, which is now returned to you by email. In the following table I specify changes made in the manuscript, replying to the editors’ queries. We also apologized that because of our laxity there were some mistakes in table1 of manuscript and has been corrected. The corrected page 4 , page 8 and the list of queries have been sent by e-mail as attachments.

2009-5-7杂志社返回意见
Dear Professor XX,
The correction on page 4 Table 1 require the Editor’s attention to approve since the data need to be changed after the manuscript have peer reviewed.
Could you please provide us the reason of changing the data on Table 1?
The correction also requires your confirmation that changing data will not affect the result and conclusion of the manuscript.
I have also copied in the editorial assistant who will communicate with the Editor regarding the change of Table 1. When you reply to me, please also copied her in.
Thank you.

2009-5-7，要求作者再次解释原因
Dear XX,
Thank you for your paying attention to the changing data on table 1 in our proof.
The reason of the changing data is the fact that my son had once opened my computer and randomly changed the data because of his curiosity while I had no idea before my submission. Of course, the issue was found and corrected when I checked in my proof. And I once inquired my son and got to know that.
I state here that the changing data will not affect the result and conclusion of the manuscript. Meantime, I am sorry for my negligence.

2009-5-12事态进一步恶化．
Dear Prof. XXX:
The Editor’s reply is that the reason below is not acceptable to change the data in table 1.
Please send a proper reason as a scientific paper as soon as possible,
otherwise we will have to withdraw the acceptance of your manuscript, instead it will be rejected.
When you send another reason,
please declare again that changing data will not affect the result and the conclusion of the manuscript.
We look forward to hearing from you soon.

直到此时，该文作者还不清楚为何会这样？该文作者的确是在投稿当日，其儿子操纵过电脑，所以推测其儿子可能随意修改了数据．以下是该通讯作者以及第一作者找到我，我给申诉的信．
Dear Prof. XX,
Thank you very much for your hard-work in processing our manuscript and proof titled XXX

It is a pleasure to know that our manuscript was accepted in the XXX. However, the decision of the editor might be because that we did not make it clear why corrected table 1 recently. In fact, the proof was recently read carefully by Prof. XXX, an oncology specialist, and found some obviously mistakes in Table 1. First, for example, the absolute tumor growth delay caused by XXXX is defined as the time in days tumors required to reach 4 times volume from the time of treatment initiation minus the time in day control tumors required to grow 4 times volume in Table 1. The time required for tumor to grow four times volume (days) was 9±1.6 in sham group in XXX, but the time required for tumor to grow four times volume (days) was 29±5.5 in XXX. Based on the formula of the absolute tumor growth delay, the absolute tumor growth delay of theXXX should be 20 instead of 23 which was obviously mistake (See original Table 1 and corrected Table 1). In order to facilitate understanding, we attached the raw data of the Table 1. Second, based on rigorous scientific attitude as proposed by you, I found that the Table 1 we submitted was not the final version. I immediately called all the authors in order to discuss the reason of these mistakes. I authorized the first author submitted the enclosed material for possible publication in XXX on behalf of all co-authors when I was meeting in the USA. As she said, her son manipulated her personal computer at submitted day because of his curiosity. Hence, we speculated that her son may amend some data of the Table 1. Finally, we agree with you point and we believed that the issues raised will improve the quality of our manuscript. We also corrected these mistakes in order to render the paper is now more readable.

We are apologize for any inconvenience and can understand this misinterpretation, but we believe that the results are of merit and the paper is worthy of publication in a high quality peer reviewed journal such as yours.

At last, we declare again that changing data will not affect the result and the conclusions of the manuscript.

In addition, attached please find the raw data of Table 1 (TIFF). Should you have any questions, please contact us without hesitation.

今天在科里加班做个实验，等待的时间顺便在园子里转转，发现wuyekafei版主的这个讨论贴，觉得很不错啊，强烈支持！

顺利也说一下我身边的一个小故事吧，可能比较有点代表性哟，不急，待我慢慢道来，大家再作评论吧.......

某硕士研究生，经近一年的实验研究，课题做的还不错，认真写作，投一国内知名的Medline收录期刊，该生为第一作者，其导师为通迅作者。要知道，国内的Medline收录期刊还是比较少的，而且往往比较难中。幸运的是，该文章一路“闯关”，最后顺利地拿到了清样。可想而知，该生和导师拿到清样时是多么地开心与兴奋。然则该研究生导师突然心生一念，萌生了想既要第一作者，又要通迅作者的想法，遂大笔一挥，将导师的姓名调到了第一作者的位置，同时又注明其为通迅作者。想想又担心编辑会质问，又"大写"了一份说明文件，强调调整作者的行为实属从学科发展之角度考虑，乃从大局出发......

不几日，该杂志的编辑断然拒稿。说实话，到清样的阶段了，几乎没说过还有拒稿的，不知各位战友听闻这段奇闻秩事后有何感想，不妨跟贴讨论讨论。

作者糊涂了。
文章在proof reading阶段，主要是看拼写错误、语法错误、参考文献错误等。涉及到文章的科学性，如数据、讨论等，一般是不能修改的，因为已经通过peer review了。
既然作者文章的数据存在显著错误，那么一定要很好地跟编辑沟通，给出非常充足的科学理由，说明为什么要改数据。
作者很轻描淡写地说，我改了一些数据。
然后编辑说请你给个理由，作者竟然说儿子捣乱的时候搞错了......汗
编辑然后很认真地说，拜托你给个科学理由，为什么现在要改这些数据，不是问你开始的时候怎么会搞错这些数据（编辑其实不是很在乎是儿子弄的还是女儿弄的），否则就要撤稿了。
当然作者最后终于回答正确。
恭喜！
所以关键不在于哪些语言是禁忌语言，而是要理解投稿的每一个环节背后的意义所在，为什么首先要编辑过目？为什么要peer review？为什么要求修改？为什么要proof reading？明确了这些环节的意义，才能更好地达到编辑部和同行专家的要求，让自己的论文顺利发表，向全世界介绍中国人的工作，创造出好的知识，并传播给他人。
BTW，发表论文的意义主要在于，传播自己创造的知识。科研的核心就是创造知识，发表经过peer review 的论文是最重要的、最好的传播方式，其他的方式还包括但不限于：写书、会议报告与交流、个人交流、讲座、授课等。
